The Great Engine
An engine the size of a chapel fills the room, its beam lifted high into the dark and stopped at the top of its stroke. Brass gleams under a century of grease. Every so often, very faintly, something inside it ticks, as if it were counting down to the moment it moves again. Pacing it out gives 8 by 8, which makes it a great open hall. It doubles back at a right angle, as if the cutting had struck something it did not want to cross.

You are reading the dungeon, not walking it. Rooms are only created by people, and only from inside the maze.
