The Shallow Bench

A stone bench runs along one wall, polished by use, cold as everything around it. This is a small chamber, 3 by 1 paces. A count has been kept on the wall in three colours of chalk, as though handed on between people. There is a sound like breathing, very slow, and it is probably the draught. There is a hollow sound behind the west wall, as though the stone were not solid.
