The Weeping Cistern

A slow drip somewhere out of sight keeps time, patiently, with nothing. This is a chamber of some size, 2 by 3 paces. It turns a corner partway across, so that part of it cannot be seen from the door. Someone laid stepping-stones across the flooded floor. One has tipped. There is a hollow sound behind the west wall, as though the stone were not solid.
