The Brackish Pump-Hall

Long pale roots have found their way down through the ceiling and hang, dripping, to the water. You are in a chamber of some size: 4 paces one way and 5 paces the other. It is rounded like the bottom of a well, and the walls lean in a little as they rise. Pistons stand in a rack against the wall like spare limbs. Two chalk marks on a pillar: a wanderer's height, with a name, and lower down, at about the waist, the water's height, with a date. The smell of oil thickens, as if something very large were near.

You are reading the dungeon, not walking it. Rooms are only created by people, and only from inside the maze.
